1. 研究目的与意义
China, as a developing country, has a large gap compared with developed countries. If we want to catch up with and even surpass the developed ones, education seems important and should be given the first priority. Besides, education seems the same important to individuals. For individuals, education is the best way to improve oneself. Firstly, parents#8217; education helps people gain basic knowledge of the world and distinguish what is right and wrong. Secondly, education improves one''s skills of life and work, which can make people live a good life or have achievements in career. Finally, education brings people ability of learning and that is the key role of education. The film The Joy Luck Club obviously reflects the differences and contradictions between Chinese and American education. From these differences and contradictions, we can know the disadvantages of Chinese education.
2. 研究内容和预期目标
This paper tries to deal with problems as follows:
(1)Discussing the contradictions reflected in the film
(2)The comparison and contrast of the Chinese family education and American family education from three aspects.
3. 国内外研究现状
There have been many researches on the differences of family education between American and Chinese. For example, Wangle writes six points of the differences between Chinese and American family education in the magazine Tutor guide. He compared the characters of Chinese and American children according to their different backgrounds. Aileen as a Chinese mother studied the American education and writes the book American education compared with Chinese education, how Chinese parents find the best way to teach their children. Parents as Partners in Education written by Berger, E. Hepworth emphasized the importance of the parents#8217; guide to children.
However, there are still few essays that talked about the factors that caused the differences between Chinese and American education in the film The Joy Luck Club . Therefore, this is one of the reasons I attempt to make a research on this topic.
