1. 研究目的与意义

Translation plays a crucial role in the cultural exchange, especially in the process of the dissemination of literature. However, it was not until the 20th century that translator, as the subject of translation, was placed a high value thanks to the movement of cultural turn. Afterwards, scholars and theorists turned to realize the significance of translator#8217;s subjectivity in translation which relies not only on the respective translator#8217;s cultural background and knowledge, but also on the limitation of language and history. Translator must give full play to his subjectivity for a successful translation. The further study on translator#8217;s subjectivity will help us a better understanding of the original works by a fair and objective judgment. More importantly, the perspective of translator#8217;s subjectivity provides us a new method in comparing different translation versions of the same work.

This theosis will analyze two versions of Pride and Prejudice from the perspective of translator#8217;s subjectivity.

3. 国内外研究现状

Influenced by the western translation society, with the development of cultural turn in the 1990s in China, the domestic study on translation by Chinese scholars and theorists expanded and deepened the new fields. The subject of translation and the subjectivity of translator were explored and thereby provoked a fierce dispute. Over the decades, the subjectivity of translator gains more and more attention in researches on translation and remarkable achievements have been made. Outside, foreign translation theorists as well attach great importance to the study on translator#8217;s subjectivity. For example, the American academic scholar Douglas Robinson analyzed the characteristics of translator#8217;s subjectivity in his work Who Translates? Translator Subjectivities Beyond Reason.
